What Causes Sharp Throat Pain?

Hello, my name is Daniel. I have been dealing with this weird symptom about my throat; I feel a sharp pain, feeling like if I had a splinter on the left side of my tonsil. and my uvula is huge it touches my tongue. So, when I sing or speak loud, I can feel the pain, kind of like if I had a scratch or when someone touches the splinter. It hurts really bad, but it s just when I speak loud. I have gone to the doctor and she said I may have had an infection; it s been 2 weeks and I still feel the same. I am really desperate and don t know what else to do. Thank you in advance!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Probably you may be suffering from acute pharygitis with left tonscillitis. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water, avoid smoking and alcohol. Use tablet Levocetirizine twice a day for five days. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
