What Causes Sharp Tightness On The Back And Breathlessness After An Injury?

I came of a horse and landed pretty flat on my back 36hrs ago. First evening felt some sharp tightness on rt back when breathing deep, 24hrs later getting extremely painful spasms across rt back when moving (very difficult to move much at all), very hard to cough (I ve had a cold too, but body is resisting coughing as leads to spasm), and now noticed my chest gurgles when I can get a deep breath. It s tender always, but the spasms are a killer, and now concerned I could be getting fluid on my lungs. ??

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The pain and therefore restriction in coughing can cause the retention of infected fluid in the lungs.

Coughing is a protective mechanism that helps to get rid of infected or foreign material.
This can increase the risk of pneumonia occurring.

It would be best to see a doctor for assessment and treatment which would likely include an anti inflammatory pain killer and muscle relaxant.
Eg of anti inflammatory meds include naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen etc

Eg of muscle relaxants include soma, flexeril etc

I hope this helps
