What Causes Sharp Upper Back Pain Along With Shortness Of Breath?

As I walked out of a restaurant into my car I got a sharp pain in my upper back , I couldn t drive it move as the sharp pain hurt so much , I was short of breath . I went to the doctor got a steroid shot and was on a breathing machine for 15 minutes and got my inhaler , I have asthma .ive been taking my inhaler daily , Two days after I went to work out I thought I was better . It s been 2 more days I layed off working out and have been resting and my pain in my lungs doesn t go away it hurts when I move . And I ve been feeling sleepy and sluggish .

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sharp upper back pain along with shortness of breath . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like heart rhythm disorder , dehydration , anemia , disc problem , muscle spasm , medication reaction or side-effect , tachycardia or congestive heart failure . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may take history , check vitals and order certain test like ECG . Doctor may also ask if you start taking new medicine , to rule out side effects of a medicine . Apply warm compresses on back . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for back problem.Doctor may refer you to cardiologist ,who may order troponin t test to confirm the condition like angina . For now stay calm , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and apply warm compresses on back . Sometimes the symptoms can also occur due to cervical problem .
