What Causes Shingles In Mouth?

My husband has just been told he has singles, that are only inside his mouth thru his dentist. he did not prescribe any medications but was wondering if should at least be in antiviral medication. he is ina lot of pain and unable to eat, only soft foods

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The shingles is because of the herpes virus infection. Nothing to be panic, it is a self limiting condition. For the viral infection the antiviral drug has to be administered within 24 hours of onset of the lesion. So you can just take symptomatic treatment like topical analgesic like choline salicylate and topical anesthetic like lignocaine. Do warm saline gargling. The lesions will heal in 5-7 days.
