What Causes Shivering In A Prostrate Cancer Patient?

My father is 86 and he said last night he woke up and was extremely cold. He tried to get warm by using more blankets, but he couldn t get warm until he got up and turned the heater way I up. I think it scared him because he told me about it. He is on blood pressure medication and that has kept his blood pressure very low plus he has a slow growing prostate cancer. Today he was a little more shakey than usual, but he was up and around and met me for lunch. Is there anything we can do to help him?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM
I really appreciate your concern

looking at history of prostate cancer and symptoms he was having is suggestive of UTI or distant spread of cancer which leads to suppression of immune system and opportunistic infections

in my opinion you should take him to GP for clinical examination and blood and urine test

ask him to have plenty of water and tab acetaminophen for fever

Hope this answers your question
Good luck
