What Causes Shivering With Sudden Rise In BP?

I just woke up at 2 am and felt my gut shiver first. Then the shivers spread to my whole body and couldn t stop shaking. I was trying to calm down but it was useless. I checked my BP and I was so scared it sky rocketed to 161/something. I then felt like throwing up. I am a 20 year old teen. Please help!!

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

BP raises due to many reasons . One of the common reason is any kind of Physical or mental stress. The same happen in your case . Due to the stress of gut and body shivering and nausea , your BP shoot high. So nothing to worry about your BP as it was a transient elevation.

Now what caused that kind of shivering has to be evaluated . It can be due to Indigestion , food allergy or Infection. If this was the first time that happened then did you had any unusual food that night ? If yes then the chances of food allergy or food poisoning is high . Kindly let me know .

Was there any alteration in your bowel movements?
Did you had any fever or vomiting?

Kindly let me know these details .

Also I advise you to get Ultrasound Abdomen Pelvis , LFT and serum Lipase test done and revert back with reports.

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarification feel free to ask.
