What Causes Shivers While Asleep?

Hi my husband(27) shivers so badly for a couple of seconds while sleeping. He is Software Engineer and works from 9:00 am to 1:00 am. When he shivers he is not actully aware of or remembers about this. After couple of minutes he calms down and sleeps normally. It is been a couple of weeks now so i was worried if this thing is normal. He does not complaint about any pain or any sacry dream or any thing.

We understand your concern.

Shivering during sleep could be due to various reasons like abnormal sleep behavior, or it could be seizure episode.It needs to be evaluated in detail with EEG, sleep EEG, and sleep polysamnography to rule out all possibilities.Do not worry if all the tests are normal.It will reduce with drugs like clonazepam 0.5mg during night for 10 days.
