Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shooting Pain And Cramps In Lower Leg?
55 year old female, 200lbs recently started having shooting pains in lower right leg when sitting or driving. No injury, does not feel tight like a cramp. So severe after 5 min driving have to pull over and walk around. Does not hurt to walk except after sitting.
It could be a circulatory abnormality possibility of the veins in your lower leg like varicose veins. I would recommend a visit to your doctor for a physical examination and also a Doppler ultrasound of the region. In the mean time avoid atanding for long durations, avoid air travel, make sure you walk every chance you get but not for too long, and while seated or in supine position keep moving your feet to and fro every 10 minutes or so.
Best wishes
