What Causes Shooting Pain In Knee While Bending The Leg And Walking?

My knee started to really hurt yesterday during rehearsal, I m a ballet dancer. It feels as though it s distal of my knee cap, almost by the large tendon. It s a shooting pain that hurts when I walk but is extreme when I go up or down stairs and bend my leg. There was no sudden trauma or hitting of my knee. I m wondering what s wrong with it and what I can do
