What Causes Shooting Pain In The Upper Legs?

When I lay down or sit, I have no leg pain, but when I stand up, I have shooting pains in my upper legs. I have to shake it out and sometimes it goes completely away, but sometimes, it just continues to hurt. As soon as I lay or sit down, it goes away immediately.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Neuropathic causes like sciatica have to be ruled out. Drugs like gabapentin can be taken and are quite effective for these conditions. An MRI scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
