What Causes Short Seizures?

My nephew has had two short (1 minute) seizures this past week. He's been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis but doen't have any illness right now. He's 5 months old. Can low sodium cause this? or could it be something else. They have not taken him to the hospital or dr. yet about it but plan to.
