What Causes Short Term Memory Loss And Cognitive Changes While On Keppra?

My husband had one seizure, 8 years ago and was put on kepra at that time. I noticed some minor side effects, all mentioned in the info that came with rx. I saw some troubling things and asked the dr if they were from the long seizure he had. He said no...a few months ago l got a very detailed info with his rx (Just once) It had mentioned side effects l was worried about. Loss of short term memory, cognitive problems, changes in intellect ect. He was put on Donzepril after he was diagnosed with symptoms of Alzhimers..now I m wondering?

Your husband is being treated or Alzheimer's. The Keppra could be the cause of this memory loss and could be interfering his cognitive function, as could the Donzepril. if he has good and caring physicians then it is likely that he is suffering from the effects of Alzheimer's. These drugs are being used to slow the advancement of this disorder. If you have doubts then get a second opinion. Brace yourself, however, for a possible ongoing cognitive decline.
