Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, the shortness of breath after valve replacement should need to be worked up to rule out any signs of heart failure or pleural effusions etc as with such surgeries it should be worked up to see response to the surgical procedure and may also be one of complications post surgical so should be discussed with treating surgeon as soon as possible. The medicine name you haven't mentioned however after valve surgeries usually blood thinning medicine like Rivaroxaban are given to keep blood thin avoiding clot formation. If it feels expensive to you one alternative is Warfarin which is cheaper and affordable however is associated with some precautions to use as it has multiple drug and food interactions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
