What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Tachycardia?

I am having rapid heart beat and some shortness of breath, sort of like an anxiety although I am not anxious about anything. I have had a few of these episodes. They don t last long and don t seem to have a food or beverage cause. I take no medication and drink one cup of coffee each morning. No pain, no trouble sleeping. No other symptoms.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Though anxiety can cause these symptoms, you would need to rule out other causes first eg heart disease , thyroid disease, anemia (low blood count) or lung disease.

Ruling these out would require blood tests to asses thyroid function and also a complete blood count to check for anemia.
An ECG would assess the heart.

If these are normal then a chest x ray would be needed to take a look at the lungs.

If all of these tests are normally and there is no other obvious underlying cause, then anxiety would then be considered.

I hope this helps
