What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Elevated BP?

I am very short of breath on loppressor tartrate so I am trying too start toprol XL because it did not cause the problem , but my BP is staying elevated so I had to take my other dose to bring it down and have been dealing with this all day , do I have to ween from the metoprolol tartrate to go to the toprol?

No, you do not need to wean off the metoprolol to switch to another blood pressure medications.
Weaning is required for medications that cause tolerance or dependence or with steroids.

It would be best however, since you are having high blood pressures, to speak to your doctor about your medication because additional medication may be needed to help bring it towards normal.
