What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Fluid Retention In The Upper Body?

Hi, my wife has had a kidney transplant over 4 years ago and has had a rough time health wise. Always one thing after another. Lately she has had upper body fluid retention( I believe) and shortness of breath. I wondered if anyone might have a clue as to what could be the problem. My name is Jeff. Thank You

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Swelling in upper body (specially puffy eyes &face... more so in morning)is a sign of kidney infection or albumin in urine. This also gives rise to
Short breathing.
I would suggest for an urgent checkup by your urologist... for checking kidney function tests/kidney infection. This would find out basic cause of your problem. Earlier the diagnosis with prompt &sufficient specific treatment would save further complications.&give her a good health.
Thanks.
