Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Heaviness In The Chest?
I have had shortness of breath & a feeling of heaviness on my chrst, and severe nausea-stomach aches for over a week now.. I had an EKG at my doctor which was perfect. He has ordered a stress test and heart ultra sound for this Wednesday. What can I do to stop feeling this way?
There are various reasons for short breath as:
- lung problems (obstructive or restrictive disorder)
- cardiac issues (valvular malfunction, cardiomyopathy or else)
- low hemoglobin
- stress, anxiety
- over exertion
- others
Currently you can do deep breathing exercises, YOGA, walking in fresh air to lessen the symptoms rather than getting panic till you meet your specialist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
