What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Increase In Heart Beat During Bed Time?

The past 3 weeks at bedtime when I start to drift off to sleep I have been experiencing a sensation like an adrenaline rush come over me, my heart will beat faster and I feel short of breath, I also hear a whooshing sound in my ears, this will continue to happen until finally sleep exhaustion takes over. During the day I feel pressure in my temples and I still hear the whooshing at times. Last week I started to develop congestion as well as a runny nose, and some malaise, no fever and still feel like sometimes I m not getting enough air in, possible b/c of the congestion. I took some Vitamin C and NSAIDs and the malaise started to slowly subside but I still experience everything else

hello,

the palpitations may be associated with anxiety, u can take a sedative for a few days to see if symptoms improve, if they subside then its just an anxiety or panic phase or attack. u may also use propranolol in consult with ur doc but must rule out asthma before its use. meditation and cognitive behavior therapy can help.
