What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Left Sided Chest Pain?

My 21 yr old son has shortness of breath, left side chest pain/ pressure for the past few weeks. Comes and goes. Just went to the trauma center and they said his heart appeared to maybe be a little enlarged. They recommended he see a heart Dr. Is that really necessary?

Yes, it is definitely advisable. It could be many things, e.g. asthma. It may not be serious, but it definitely calls for medical attention.
