What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Rapid Heart Rate Upon Moderate Activity?

Hi Dr. Rynne, I am experiencing shortness of breath and a rapid heart rate on moderate activity. I ve hade these symptoms for about three weeks. I don t want to overreact regarding a potential heart condition. Is there another possible answer and can this wait for me to see my physician next week.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should set an appointment with a cardiologist. We should get your heart and blood vessels checked by a cardiologist and a few diagnostic tests might be needed: EKG, echocardiogram, stress test, complete blood count to rule out anemia, chest X-ray and lung examination to rule out respiratory problems.

Treating the underlying condition can ease the symptoms too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
