Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Weakness Post Insertion Of Heart Stents?
My 85 year old father had 3 stints put in, after 6 weeks he had sharp upper chest pain, trouble breathing, and after a short hospital stay was diagnosed with inflammation around his heart. Today he was admitted again, after symptoms of shortness of breath, could not walk up the stairs and weakness. Is this paraditys? Not sure if I spelled this right. They are 3 hours away, mom said it s fine don t come down, should I be concerned? They have been very healthy and independent up to this point.
* The short breath, weakness indicate possible hypofunctioning of cardiac chambers and reduced cardiac output, which may be possible with 3 stents in situ.
* Other possibilities of pulmonary congestion via back pressure changes or else have to be evaluated by clinical examination.
I would request you to take your time to reach to him without panic as the cardiologist on duty must be performing his level best for his therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
