What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Wheezing?

I have recently had a sinus infection leading to acute bronchitis. Tonight I woke up with the feeling that I couldn t breath. I also hear a whistling when I exhale. I have used the inhaler they gave me at 10 and at 3. Is this sleep apnea , asthma or bronchitis?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are having acute bronchitis or allergic laryngitis. In the both the situations some allergic reaction has cause inflammation of Ur upper respiratory tract. You need to start a nasal spray Fluticasone and anti-allergic tablet Levocetrizine. Take steam inhalation through mouth and nose. Consult a chest medicine physician. You may need to do a pulmonary function test. If needed you may start a inhaler to decrease the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
