Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Shortness Of Breath, Dizziness And Rapid Heartbeat?
my 21 yr old son is experiencing shortness of breath. 1. vision gets foggy far away 2. dizziness 3. difficulty breathing 4. heavy heart beat it has happened 3 times in the past 2 weeks Symptoms last about an hour his history. He had a melody valve put in, in 2013 He is currently out of his hometown until tomorrow, He plans to go to ER in am, then perhaps to the cardiologist.
The symptoms you explain are typical of a panic attack so very likely your son is having panic attacks causing the complaints. These are generally not dangerous and are easily treated. On the other hand, because he has a history of a heart valve replacement, it is safer to have a visit with a doctor and rule out potential problems related to it first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
