What Causes Shortness Of Breath During Cold Weather?
when it is cold outside 10 degrees or less my lungs hurt like they are on fire and get shortness of breath. Also when I go up 10 or more steps and sometimes when working out this happens. Inhaler helps but some times takes a minute or so to work. Lungs hurt like on fire or stabbing pain in both sides. Heart was checked and ok My father died from severe pulmonary fibrosis. Cardiologist said chest has small amount of fibrosis. Former smoker 30 years a pack every 2 days. Have not smoked in 6 years.

The most possible reason is a weather-induced spasm of bronchi, alveoli which will deprive the lung tissue from necessary oxygenation and hence the difficulty in breathing.
