What Causes Shortness Of Breath, Nausea And Fatigue?

My 17 yr old son has always been healthy, atheletic. 4 weeks ago, he got sick with a cough. He felt nauseous and had soft stools. Finished 10 days of Levaquin, started taking Nexium and an allergy pill at bedtime. He feels very short of breath with any exertion. He is frustrated due to not being able to be active. Whst could this be? A very concerned Mom.

Sometimes after a lung infection infection, residual irritation of the airways persists a while. This can cause a picture like asthma. Occasionally, short term use of an inhaler is useful. Best he gets to his doctor and gets tested for this. The doctor may detect wheezing on lung exam, and can do a test called spirometry to see if this is the problem. In any case, if's he's having shortness of breath, it's a good idea to have a doctor examine him. Hope this helps.
