What Causes Shortness Of Breath Upon Light Exertion?

66 year old male, non-smoker, ongoing SOB + one year, exacerbated by moderate activity but with quick recovery, dry cough, no chest pain or tightness...I still manage to get thru 12 hr shifts...stress test and holter monitor negative, PFT showed a restrictive pattern

Hi,

Dysnea, which is progressive and associated with dry cough may be indicative of a chronic lung problem called ILD (interstitial lung disease). This is specially right when there is restricted pattern on the PFTS and the heart is normal.

So, you should get an HRCT done and should see a pulmonalogist for further management. This looks very much like ILD.
