What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Digoxin?

Last week, a Medtronic pacemaker was implanted in me with no defribulator. It s doing a great job keeping my resting pulse at 80 bpm but I m having trouble getting more than 113 bpm even while walking up hill, causing me shortness of breath. Could my heart meds targeting to prevent racing heart be depressing my heart rate? I m on 2 tabs of Flecanide 50mg every 12 hours and 125 mcg of Digoxin every 24 hours. Or should I not expect to get above 113 bpm?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,
Yes, shortness of breath is likely due to slower heart rate. Medicines can blunt heart rate rise, but underlying heart condition is also important for which pacemaker is implanted. Due to that condition, your heart rate may not be increasing.
Next thing, type of pacemaker inserted, is it single chamber or dual chamber. If it's dual then settings can be changed to achieve high heart rate with exercises. So need visit your cardiologist once and ask change in settings.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
