What Causes Shortness Of Breath With Lightheadedness During Anxiety Attacks?

I was told that I have anxiety attacks because , at time, I have shortness of breath and become light headed. However, I have no stress in my life and these attacks are happening many times a day and night. Could this be something else ? I take 10 mgs of Lisinipril for blood pressure daily. Have been on that for 9 years.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to many medical conditions.

Anxiety attacks are one of the possible causes.

Another cause can be high blood pressure.

I recommend measuring blood pressure regularly.

If the blood pressure is higher than normal you should consult a cardiologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
