What Causes Shoulder Pain During Pregnancy?

My girlfriend is pregnant 5 weeks and this morning woke up with shoulder pain at the top of her left sholder. This seems to be getting worse throughout the day but after some heat treatment she seemed to relax and fall asleep this evening. I read the ecotopic info and I am concernced but she has had no real other symptoms. Please advise
