What Causes Sinking Feeling Of The Heart After A Surgery?

While I am resting and just about to doze off I am awakened by this sinking feelng in my heart as if it is going to stop. When I purposely try to stay awake the feeling goes away? What causes this? I am a heart patient recovering from stent surgery and in the day time I am doing well. I am fairly active. I dont get this feeling all the time.
