What Causes Sinus Infection, Swollen Testicle And Rashes All Over The Body?

male, 22, symptoms started with headache, sore neck, painful lump behind 1 ear and 2 painful lumps of back of head, one on each side, small itchy rash on forearms. Was diagnosed with sinus infection and sent home with a cephalosporin. within the next 2 days itchy rash spread over entire front and back of body in addition to arms. Next day he is now experiencing severe pain in swollen testicle that radiates up into his abdomen. He is also an uncontrolled type 1 diabetic. Went to ER, testicle was ultrasounded and diagnosis was epididmyisis (sp) given shot of rocephin and antibiotics and sent home. Now has more lumps forming on back of head.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

He is having mumps as per the symptoms described and all features coincide with the diagnosis of mumps.

For fever and pain, tab paracetamol may be used. He needs rest and plenty of fluids. His sugar level may increase in all infections so he should be careful with sugar level.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Varinder Joshi , General & Family Physician
