Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For three days I have had cyclical bouts of sinusitis over one side of my face from the eyelid to the upper incisors which then stretches over to my temple. That lasts about three hours in the afternoon. My fever develops at that time and lasts the rest of the day, getting up to near 100 degrees F. In the morning the fever is gone. I have no discharge. I can breathe extremely well. I have had no colds or bronchitis prior to this event. I have started taking anti-virals and a z-pak, (yesterday), and the pain was much less today after starting those protocols yesterday, but the fever spiked as high. I am going to see my dentist on Monday to see if a abscessed tooth is the cause. What else could it be with no discharge and a fever, and cyclical at that.
First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, it can be sinusitis but can also be caused by teeth root infection or abscess as you suspect too. X-ray PNS as well as OPG may be repeated and if needed CT or MRI may also be done.
Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used. If the pain is severe more potent analgesics or nerve pain suppressants like Tramadol or carbamazepine can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
