Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a strange question that is a bit odd but a lot of men have this issue, Cracks around the head of the penis. Now I ve tried a few things people have suggested and they have not worked . it concerns me and is there anything it can go away or be fixed, Would ChapStick work on it if it fixes cracks on our lips would it be the same effect on our Penis heads?
Are the cracks on the head itself or on foreskin? Sometimes overgrowth of yeast can cause this.
I advise you go in to be seen by your doctor in person for evaluation of these cracks.
I don't think Chap Stick would be helpful as the skin of the penis is not exposed to the same environmental factors that chap the lips of the mouth.
If there are signs of yeast overgrowth, then an anti-yeast cream would be advised, and keeping the skin dry (changing out of sweaty shorts, no shorts to bed, etc) would help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
