Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
what could be causing skin under my eyes to feel like sandpaper and irritated by any (of my usual and customary) cleansing and moisturizing products? I can only splash water on my face; otherwise my skin develops a small pimply rash and the sandpapery effect is exacerbated. Until last year about this time I had beautiful baby-soft facial skin. Then I had a very stressful project that lasted from about Sept-Dec that affected my eyes and skin. Then I had large swathes of burning, red skin under my eyes. Eventually it just settled into the sandpapery condition. I used to be able to use Systane eye drops Or another no-preservative eye drop for dry eyes and those are extremely irritating if there is any leakage onto the skin. Can you help?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction to pollen. Some suggestion about the treatment are: -Use allergy eye drop -Use cold compresses to the eyes. Then lie down with the compress across your eyes to let the coolness reduce swelling. -Take antihistamines daily
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
