What Causes Skin Peeling Due To Periodic Itching Leading To Inflamed Orange-red Peel? Heals On Bathing

I have periodic itching on my legs - orange-peel like, red, raised, inflamed. Takes about a week to two weeks to heal. I have learned over time that using lotions to keep in soft is a waste of time. It works better if I just bathe using Johnson's liquid baby soap and water, dry it well, and let it air out. Eventually it dries up and goes away. The skin finally peels like old sunburn and it's all better. What IS this?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of miliaria rubra. It is common in hot, humid weather when skin sweats a lot. Clinically it presents as red, itchy papules over wide areas of the body like whole arm, legs and chest and trunk.

I usually ask my patients of miliaria rubra to apply a soothing lotion like calamine after bathing and then 3-4 times during the day.

take care
regards
