What Causes Skin Rashes On The Forehead, Chest, Back And Elbow Of An Infant?

Hi my son is one month old and he has developed some kind of skin rash prominent on forehead eyelids and elbow and knee folds accompanied with little tiny red bumps on cheeks and all over the chest and back. Is it a skin alergy or baby acne. My padea has perscribed an antihistamine and aatogla lotion.will it be helpful?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Atopic eczema is most likely the cause. This is a kind of dermatitis or inflammation of the skin which is common in kids.Recollect any probable cause of allergy in the recent days. Note the food given in the last few days. In case of similar symptoms in the future, it would be easy to identify the cause. Treatment includes antihistamines to reduce skin rash and itching. Moisturiser also help in reducing the dryness and itching.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
