What Causes Skin Tags On The Underside Of The Tongue?
i have rather bizarre looking bits of skin hanging down from the underside of my tongue.it started with a sore throat, and then they appeared.i have had a cold recently.the bits are painfull to touch-they feel like ulcers.im really worried.what could they be/what could the cause of them be?
I have gone through you query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain first thing I would like to tell you that in case if you have one skin tag on either side of tongue then it can be normal anatomical structure that is a mucosal fold known as Plica Fimbriata.. But in case there is formation of multiple skin tags then it can be due to peeling of the mucosa and can occur due to a number of reasons like physical trauma, excess intake of sour foods, burning with hot foods etc.. It does not seems like related to cold and cough and you need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done.. As of now take treatment for cold and sore throat and do warm saline gargles, take multivitamin supplements and take a soft diet. Maintain a good oral hygiene..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
