Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
just recently developed a condition where if I rub my skin anywhere it turns red and then welts. It does not itch....Had knee surgery end of September and been on Tramodol, Vicodine, and Napison. Not ever at the same time of course. The only one I took consistently was the Napison until surgery ...the others were random days and times and not consistent because I do not like pain killers

What Causes Skin To Turn Red And Welts If Rubbed?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic This maybe a type of chronic urticaria. It may be the type called dermatographism where firm stroking of the skin causes hives (urticaria) to occur. There is another type called delayed pressure urticaria when application of pressure may cause a similar reaction. Your doctor can determine if either of these is present. The use of antihistamines, even if there is no itching, would help. I hope this helps
