What Causes Sleepiness Post Intake Of Acetaminophen?

I accidentally purchased and took 2 acetaminophen PM. My eye sight isn t what it used to be and didn t see the pm. I had sore back so I took 2 and shortly after I got real tired so I was looking up side effects and discovered my error. I am so sleepy but at work. What can I do to besides sleep? Drank soda already.. I will have to drive my car home in 3 hours.

Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Acetaaminophen PM has two drugs in it, One is Acetaaminophen- which helps to relieve pain. & the other is anti allergic drug- this relieves any associated allergy & as a side effect it causes drowsiness, that's why to be taken in night before sleep.
You had taken two pills at a time causing excess of drowsiness/ sleepiness.
* Fortunately you have digested double dose of Acetaaminophen.. in case you have some burning/ acidity you can take a glass of cold milk.
* About sleepiness- you have to exhaust the effect by sleeping out. The effect may last for about 8- 12 hours. So do not drive home alone before you are full awake.
