What Causes Sleeplessness While On Prednisone?

I was just given an injection of ceftriaxone and I was feeling better I ve been suffering from acute broncitis and finally gave up on accupunture and herba. And first the dr gave me a steroid shot and antiboitica and put me on breathing treatments. Got a little better. But got the best results from my last shot. Now she wants me to take predisone for ten days starting with 3- 20 mg for three 2-20mg for three days and 1-20mg for three days. I ve done the first day and can t sleep just read the side effects and I m scares to go with this ten day program since I ve already had a steroid shot 10 days ago. She wanted me to try advair too. I think that s Ray too much I might add I m normally healthy on no meds usually naturals if needed but was caught in mosquito staying last August and was given a steriods shot it helped but ki still had a slight cough that I just lived e With. I don t want to take this predison for ten days. Can I take 2 for 2 days and 1 for 2 days. For only 5 days and take a pill form of caftrione if I need it I like the side effects of that better than 10 days pf predisone. What do you think?

In my opinion, there is no reason to be worried and usually, this is just temporary and self-limiting. Excessive daytime sleepiness is common issues and should be considered in this case.

Excessive daytime sleepiness may be caused by conditions such as sleep deprivation, metabolic disturbances, sleep apnoea, medications, neurological disorders such as seizures and psychiatric disorders such as depression.

If emotional causes are ruled out then some tests can be done to confirm the diagnosis. In my opinion, polysomnography (sleep study), is one of the necessary examinations in order to achieve a correct diagnosis. Please discuss with primary care Doctor about these issues.
