What Causes Slight Redness And Irritation Around Clitoris?

Hi, I have some slight redness and almost Rae looking skin near my clitoris after shiwering. I put on coconut oil which helps and I think it started a few days after shavng. My pap smear came back normal and I recently got over a yeast infection. What do you think could be causing this irritation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Slight redness & irritation around the clitoris is commonly due to bacterial vaginosis. It increased the risk of STD and chlamydia / gonorrhea if you are sexually active. Get treated. You can take a course of Flagyl (Metronidazole) orally and can apply Clindamycin cream locally in the area affected. Avoid sex for a couple of days. Stay away from vaginal douching. Use herbal cream based hair removers to avoid infection. Get STD tests done to stay on the safer side. If positive you will be treated accordingly. Take care of your hygiene.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
