What Causes Slightly Elevated GGT, S -Alt And S - Ast Levels In Blood?

I have been on treatment for HCV for 2 weeks, using a triple therapy of solvadi, copegus and pegasys. my total protein, which was high has now returned to normal range. Albumin and total bilirubin (S -conjugated and unconjugated) are also normal. S- Alk phosphatase is also within a normal range. However GGT is now 59, S -Alt is 66 and S - Ast is 60. Is the therapy reassuring?

Welcome to healthcaremagic.com. Your therapy is indeed re-assuring, the reason your liver testing is slightly elevated is that the liver cells are injured by the virus and thus will keep "weeping" for a while, at times these levels will not come down to normal because one has a virus that continually injures the liver. It is ironic actually, but if and when the AST and ALT become normal while still with active viral infection to the liver, then the liver is completely damaged as there are no more cells to injure. I hope this helps and best of luck and thank you for your question.
