What Causes Slow Digestion Long After Gastric Banding Surgery?

I had my stomach banded about 25 years ago. Over the years my stomach has grown in huge proportion and I developed two very large hernias. They do not bother me at all and I m wondering if the band is still in place and causing my digestion to be very slow. I have gained 150 pounds but I am in excellent condition for 75 years. Who can I see to find out what has taken place in my stomach ?

By the description you've given it's possible that the band has slipped causing increased proportion of the stomach and also the possibility of band leak causing weight gain. One of the complications of banding is hiatal hernia. Was it repaired? Was the band repositioned? If no evaluation was done I suggest you fix an appointment with a bariartic surgeon who'll examine and suggest the next step to be done.
