Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my teenage daughter does not heal well from even minor scratches or cuts. all of the abrasions she gets tend to leave marks that last for months or years. i was curious if perhaps she may be deficient in a vitamin/mineral her body needs to heal properly
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Slow healing of cuts and wounds in a teenager could be because of certain vitamin and mineral deficiency. Kindly get her Fasting Blood Glucose levels checked along with Bleeding time (BT) and Clotting time (CT). She might require Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Selenium and Zinc supplementation, which would help in fastening the healing process. Also, dietary supplementation of citrus fruits and vegetables would be an added help. Kindly consult Physician for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
