What Causes Slurred Speech And Weakness In The Fingers?
My mother is an 83yr old with a history of hypertension. In the past more than 10 years ago she had a brain aneurysm the surgery went well and she has done well. She is on medication for the blood pressure. Jus recently she has trouble on the right side of her body, her mouth seems a little-twisted speech is a little slurred. and the fingers on the right hand can t grip. I took her to the hospital they performed a CT scan, an ultrasound and blood workup. They concluded that she did not have a stroke. I am worried what else could these symptoms be.
As per your query you have symptoms of slurred speech and weakness in the fingers which seems to be probably due to bell's palsy i.e a condition when temporary weakness occurs on one side of face. But the symptoms can also occur due to nerve defect , allergic reaction or diabetic. I would suggest you to consult oral physician/ neurologist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like trigeminal neuroptahy. Doctor will examine you completely and may conduct various test to confirm diagnosis and may prescribe muscle relaxant. You should do mouth stretching exercises such as blow in and bow out. Doctor may also recommend physical therapy. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals , also you should consult cardiologist.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
