What Causes Slurred Speech, Irregular Heart Rate And Low WBC Count?

A female friend of ours has just had a baby after a very difficult pregnancy. She now has abnormally slow and halting speech, abnormally high heart rate, an elevated white cell count and very low potassium. She seems interested in and loving to her children and is attentive and patient with her 2 year old, but she now has trouble with simple things like walking and forming complete sentences. She is a college educated woman who previously was was vivacious spoke quickly. Her doctor says post partem depression but to us she does not seem depressed so much as confused and slow.
