What Causes Slurred Speech While On Losartan, Bezafibrate And Gabapentin?

I am just looking up information on the medication my sister is taking, she takes Losartan, Bezafibrate, Aspirin, Parecetamol, Gabapentin annd Sertraline, she has problems sometimes finishing sentences as she cannot remember the word she wants to say or if she is talking about someone halfway through the conversation she will say what was I talking about or who was I talking about and I was wondering if the medication she was taking was affecting her memory.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of slurred speech while on Losartan, Bezafibrate and Gabapentin which seems to be due to post nasal drip, acid reflux, diverticula and bacterial infection. The condition like laryngitis can also cause such symptoms .

I would suggest you to avoid eating spicy and heavy food specially at night , take light walk after every meal , take antacid after every meal and eat at least one hour before going to sleep . Also do warm saline gargles several times a day.

Consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray of digestive tract , endoscopy of esophagus and ambulatory acidity test . Doctor may prescribe H2 blockers or proton pump inhibitor .Doctor may prescribe Glycopyrrolate.

Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist if he/she find problem to be related with upper respiratory tract infection. For now do warm saline gargles and maintain oral hygiene . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or anti viral depending upon the diagnosis .
