Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
on each side of my cheek i have a small bump looks like a tiny black dot in middle. i can feel the one on the right side but when i look i notice i have one on the left side on the same location. i do chew tobacco and understgand the risk but was wondering what this could be, i was thinking it could be an irritant from rubbing on teeth because when i was younger and had braces i believe i had them as well
I can understand your concern. Sometimes patients do have pigmented areas on the cheek that look like mole and that is normal. However, usually they are present since birth or develop due to habit of chewing tobacco etc.
However, I would advise you to visit a dentist once for clinical examination of the bump. In addition, keep it under observation if it increases or changes color or ulcerates. At the dentist's, you might need to go for biopsy for diagnosis of the lesion.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
