Hia.My toenail. What appears to be a small brown patch near tip. Under nail looks darker. The nail is clear & normal when trimmed. There is no smell, pain, blood or any other discharge. Skin around it is normal. I have had this now over two years and still in same place. Not any bigger but not decreased either. Can you advise please
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have small dark patch under the toe nail. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like toenail infection ( fungus infection ) , toenail infection , psoriasis , skin cancer or alopecia areata. Dark stripes may sometimes be a form of skin cancer that affects the nail bed, called subungual melanoma. It's important that your doctor ( dermatologist ) checks it to rule out melanoma. Doctor may treat it accordingly. For now keep your foot in hot water tub with epsom salt for 15 minutes daily and keep your foot dry and clean .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
