What Causes Small Itchy Bumps On The Body Of A Child?

My 5 year old son has suddenly developed small bumps all over his body that itch. They vary in size and have no blister look to them. He didn t eat anything new...no new soap...no fever. Some are larger in size and would look like bug bites, some are more patchy. His brother (who shares a room with him) has none. They slept in the same bed for the last two nights so I don t think it would be bed bugs (not even sure what that would look like). Any ideas?

Hi,

As per your query you have symptoms of small itchy bumps on the body which is a common skin condition due to folliculitis. The major reason for its occurrence is friction and heat rash.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you keep that area dry and wear loose clothes. You should apply a warm, moist washcloth or compress and apply soothing lotions. You should gently wash the infected skin with antibacterial soap. Take diet rich in fluids.

Consult a dermatologist for proper examination. The doctor may prescribe an antibacterial or antifungal medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
